The short version: the four calculators on this site run entirely on your device. Nothing you type into them is sent to a server, logged, or stored by us.
The Self-Employment Tax Calculator, 1099 Tax Calculator, Quarterly Tax Calculator, and S-Corp Savings Calculator are JavaScript that runs in your browser tab. When you enter a net profit figure or pick a filing status, the math happens on your device and the result appears on the same page. No form submission, no database write, no record of what you entered.
The contact form sends whatever you type, your name, email address, and message, to a third-party processor (Web3Forms) so we can reply. That is the only place on this site where typed information leaves your browser on purpose.
We run Google Analytics to see which calculators and guides get used and which ones do not. It reports aggregate patterns, like page views and rough visit counts, not anything tied to a name or email address.
Ads on this site are served through Google AdSense, which can set cookies to show ads relevant to you based on your browsing elsewhere. You can review or turn off ad personalization through Google's Ad Settings.
On your first visit, a banner asks whether to allow analytics and ad cookies. Your answer is saved in your browser's local storage so we do not ask again. You can clear that setting any time by clearing site data in your browser.
A few links in the footer point to other tools we think are useful for freelancers, like a paycheck calculator and an LLC cost guide. Some of those are affiliate links, meaning we may earn a small referral fee if you click through and sign up for something. It costs you nothing extra.
Our sourcing and update process for the tax rates used in these calculators is written up on the editorial standards page.
